BANAT AND EAST SERBIA
( Along the Danube River ) |
|
Day One: |
|
Arrive at Belgrade airport, and meet your guide who will assist you in collecting your luggage and currency exchange. We will then head to the town of Bela Crkva via Pancevo and Kovin (120km/75mi) and arrive there in 2 hours. In accordance with the previously made arrangements, accommodations are possible at hotel, private home, or campsite. The campsite is situated on beautiful terrain, near the town of Bela Crkva. Besides using top of the line tents and camping equipment, this campsite is clean with fully operating facilities. The tents can be set up prior to arrival, or we can enjoy setting them up together. Depending on arrival time at Bela Crkva, we may take a short sightseeing walk within the center of town, visiting the local church (open on week days as well), or go to swim on the lake, conveniently located near the campsite. Dinner could be arranged in three ways: a restaurant with national cuisine and national music; at the host's home (for those choosing the private accommodation); or a barbecue around the campfire (for campsite combination only). After the meal, we will review the plans for the following day.

Day Two: |
This day is planned for independent recreational activities: swimming at the lake, conveniently located next to the campsite, hiking (terrains are mild and woody, ideal for bird and nature lovers), biking and hunting/fishing for which we can get daily licenses if previously arranged. Those seeking a more strenuous day, maybe interested in hiking or biking at the national park Deliblatska Pescara (Deliblat Sandy Terrain), located northwest from the campsite. Maps and compasses are available for all those interested in longer hikes. Lunch will be picnic style of sandwiches and refreshments. All excursions will return to the town (or camp) in the late afternoon. Recommended for the evening hours is the renting of horse-drawn fiacre or chaise, a tradition of this region. Options for dinner are the same as day one. |
|
Day Three: |
| Day Three is planned as a whole day tour around the region of Banat. So, we will start early heading towards Dundjerski Palace, via the towns of Vrsac, Zrenjanin, and Novi Bechej. We will make frequent stops observing different points of interest. Lunch can be arranged at the Dundjerski Palace, also known for its famous horse farm and equestrian riding school. Those interested in horseback riding can rent horses, and those interested in fishing can try their luck on the lake Echka. If not that lucky, they can buy fresh fish from local fishermen. After sport activities, we will visit the well-known wine cellar Biserno Jezero, where they make the famous white wine “Krokan”. At the evening we will start heading back via the towns of Echka, Orlovat, Kovacica, Padjina, Samos, Ilindza, Alibunar, Uljma, and Straza. The total round trip this day will be 400km/250mi.
There is also a possibility of staying over night by the lake Echka. In this case we would have to pack up the camping equipment (and bicycles) in the morning. |
|
Day Four: |
| From this day on, we will be mostly camping (or private homes – when available). We will start heading towards Donji Milanovac, via the towns of Vracev Gaj, Banatska Palanka – crossing the Danub River by ferry and then continuing on the right bank of the river down to Srebrno Jezero ( Silver Lake), and Veliko Gradiste. While driving, we will make frequent stops at historical and other points of interest. The whole trip for this day is about 80km/50mi. Upon arrival to the town of Donji Milanovac we will set up the camp site in the Djerdap National Park, near the famous geological site of Lepenski Vir. Before dinner we may take a short excursion to get familiar with the area. Finally, for dinner we suggest a fish soup made out of fresh fish aquired from local fisherman and prepaired by your guide, served with regional white wine. Yum. |
